
Jennifer always dreamed of being an all-purpose superstar. When she was young, Jennifer enjoyed many genres of music, mainly Afro-Caribbean songs like merengue, salsa and bachata. In addition, she was fond of mainstream music, like hip hop and R&B. The music she loved was equally fascinated by the film industry. West Side Story, a musical composed by Rita Moreno (1961), was her most significant source of inspiration. At 5, Jennifer began taking singing and dancing lessons. Jennifer is also entertainer and Catholic schoolgirl, was a student for eight years of Holy Family Catholic Middle School in The Bronx. After a four-year stay at the school, she was able to graduate from Preston High School, an all-girls prep school. Jennifer excelled in athletics at school and participated in tennis as well as track and field. She spent most of her raising her children in a two-story home within the Castle Hill neighborhood. At 18, Jennifer moved out of her parents' home. In the meantime, Lopez worked at a law firm while she took dance classes at night.
